FAQ: What to wear?

Upon arrival you’ll be greeted by our studio staff, and shown to our dressing room. Plenty of light, hangers, plugs, all the things you’ll need including hair sprays are available to help you primp for your photo. If you’re not sure about what to wear bring your options and we’ll help you find the right thing.

Our website imagery is a great source of what works well for clothing.

Gentlemen: Think classic. Pick your favorite suit that fits you well and is preferably a classic dark color like navy, gray or black. Stay away from anything with bold, distracting patterns or colors. Solid-colored shirts in blue, pink, yellow or lavender are the most flattering. Solid white shirts can cause an unflattering highlight under the chin. Shirts with thin stripes, small plaids. or grids are fine under jackets. Select a clean tie in any color. Solid ties, or ties with small patterns or thin lines are preferable to bold patterns and thick stripes.

Ladies:
Choose a professional suit or business-oriented outfit that has a classic look. Preferably without bold patterns or colors. Fit is very important. Jackets and blouses that lay flat without pulling or gapping are the key to a good photo. Try not to wear stark white unless it’s under a suit jacket, cardigan, or sweater. Simple necklines, like a V neck, button up blouse, round, or scoop neck all look great. We recommend a sleeve of some kind. If you'd like to try a sleeveless blouse or shift dress, we will try to make it work, but we recommend having a sweater or jacket available in case you change your mind. We encourage you to bring a dark, solid blazer or sweater to have as an option.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
